This author gives a thorough explanation of many of the reasons for escalating health insurance costs and provides reasonable suggestions that would achieve patient-centered, consumer-driven reforms that have proven to deliver higher quality, less expensive services in every other sector of our economy. The common denominator in all requires limiting government involvement, since it invariably distorts the marketplace and leads to increased cost and decreased quality and efficiency.
