HAL, General Surgery News

D4PC surgeon, David Cossman, MD, provides a brilliant analysis of the pitfalls in the government's push for hospitals and physicians to implement the electronic medical record(EMR). As part of the PPACA (Obamacare), all physician practices must be EMR "compliant" by 2014. Advances in technology have greatly improved many aspects of our daily lives, however, the current design and function of the EMR is not being well-received by most physicians. Furthermore, as Dr. Cossman explains, the imposition of this technology is having a significant de-humanizing effect on patient care and is likely to reduce subsequent generations of physicians to mere drone-like data entry clerks.

Obamacare's Medical Mercenaries, The American Spectator

Sunday, April 29, 2012

The unelected American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation (ABIMF) and its unelected proxies are working hard to get doctors to implement the health law by encouraging them not to diagnose their patients too often. The foundation's "Choosing Wisely" campaign is framed as a voluntary program to encourage doctors to cut down on "unnecessary medical tests."

It is designed to give the doctor's seal of approval to Obamacare's practice guidelines and rationing. And it's the blueprint for the campaign ABIMF is underwriting to get doctors to change how they practice medicine in order to bring about the Obamacare revolution.

Study: Higher U.S. Health Spending Yields Better Results for Cancer Patients

Friday, April 13, 2012

Last week, D4PC published information that a group of doctors had called for an ending to certain cancer screenings and treatments finding that they were not worth their costs (see here). As D4PC noted, this would certainly raise concerns about whether ending these tests would be in the best interest of patients. A recent study will undoubtedly fuel the concerns over whether ending these tests is in the best interests of patients. The latest study found that the U.S. spent more on health care for cancer patients compared to other developed countries but that there is a noticeably better outcome for patients in the U.S.

Obamacare's War On Women: Get The Truth, Independent Women's Voice

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

This week marks the two your anniversary of the passage of the PPACA (OBAMACARE). The White House recently held a meeting with more than 100 left-wing organizations who support the government takeover of American healthcare. As this memo leaked from the meeting shows, the progressive left is engaged in another tax-payer funded public relations blitz in order to persuade the American people to embrace ObamaCare.

The information below will dispute their claims how ObamaCare helps women. The Left states that ObamaCare: prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage to women due to preexisting conditions, gives women preventative care such as mammograms and birth control at no out-of-pocket cost, and will prohibit insurers from charging women higher premiums than they charge men. Let's examine these claims individually:
