The Cruel Truth About Dependent Coverage, Richard Armstrong, MD

Sunday, May 16, 2010

In this article, D4PC Executive Board member Dr. Richard Armstrong, disputes the fact that the President's claim of extending family health benefits to dependents up to age 26, is actually a "benefit" of his healthcare law.  As Dr. Armstrong illustrates, this claim is nonsense, as this new rule change does nothing to make insurance more affordable for these young adults, as the added coverage still needs to be paid by their parents, often at a higher rate.  If the President is so concerned about bending the cost curve down for these families and young workers, why is his healthcare law not being implemented until 2014?
